Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 23 August 2026

These Terms & Conditions govern your use of the MyLocalTrade mobile application and website, operated by Service Provider LTD (Company No. 15830141), 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these terms.

Important: MyLocalTrade is a platform connecting customers with independent local tradespeople. Traders are not employees, agents or representatives of MyLocalTrade. Customers are responsible for making their own checks before hiring any tradesperson. Traders are responsible for their own work, quotes, services and legal obligations.

An eligible moderation decision can be appealed within 30 days of the decision. After 30 days, an appeal might be unavailable. An appeal is reviewed separately and does not automatically reverse the decision. Safety handling may continue independently of an appeal.

1. The Service

MyLocalTrade is a marketplace platform designed to help customers in the UK connect with independent local tradespeople. We provide the technology platform only. We do not employ traders, carry out any work, or guarantee the quality of any service provided by a trader. The app is currently in development and will launch soon.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and resident or operating in the United Kingdom to use MyLocalTrade.

3. Accounts

  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure
  • You must provide accurate and current information when registering
  • One person or business may hold one trader account
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms

4. Trader Listings and Verification

Traders are solely responsible for the accuracy of their profile, services offered, pricing, qualifications, insurance, business details and compliance with relevant trade regulations and UK law.

MyLocalTrade may carry out checks on trader information where applicable, including email and phone verification, business details, insurance documents, trade qualifications, identity documents and Companies House information for UK limited companies.

Traders who wish to create, activate, publish or maintain a trader profile on MyLocalTrade may be required to complete verification checks. These checks may include email verification, phone number verification through Twilio Verify’s configured channel, which may include SMS or RCS where available, or by account email where Twilio Verify is not configured, identity, business, document, profile or other trust and safety checks.

By continuing with the trader verification process, traders agree to receive one-time verification messages through Twilio Verify’s configured channel, which may include SMS or RCS where available, or by account email where Twilio Verify is not configured, where required for phone number verification, account access, trader verification and account security.

If a trader does not wish to receive a verification code, they may choose not to continue with that verification step. However, this may prevent them from completing trader verification or publishing or maintaining a verified trader profile.

These checks are designed to improve trust and transparency but do not guarantee the quality, suitability, safety, legality or outcome of any work carried out by a trader.

MyLocalTrade does not verify all trader information and does not guarantee the accuracy of information provided by traders.

5. Profile Changes and Admin Review

You must provide accurate and current account and profile information at all times. Traders can edit their information freely before submitting their profile for verification.

After a trader profile has been submitted, changes to protected business and verified profile details (such as business/company name, contact name, phone number, website or business description) require MyLocalTrade review before they take effect. Changes made by customers to protected identity or contact details may also require MyLocalTrade review.

Phone number changes for both customers and traders additionally require one-time code verification before the review process begins. Where Twilio Verify is configured, the code is delivered through its configured verification channel, which may include SMS or RCS where available; otherwise, it is sent to the account email address. The MyLocalTrade review request is only created after the code has been successfully verified, and a phone number change cannot be approved unless the proposed number has been verified in this way.

While a proposed change is under review, your current approved information remains active and displayed. We aim to review profile change requests within 48 hours; some requests may take longer if additional information or checks are required. MyLocalTrade may approve or reject a proposed change, or request additional information before making a decision. Pending changes are not displayed publicly — only approved information appears in public, search and profile surfaces.

You must not attempt to bypass, manipulate or circumvent profile verification or the MyLocalTrade review process.

6. Enquiries, Quotes, Hiring and Contact Details

Before a trader is hired, customers and traders should communicate through MyLocalTrade, and direct contact details (phone numbers and email addresses) remain private and are not shared between the parties.

Traders may send structured quotes through the platform, which may be fixed-price quotes or estimates. Accepting a quote records the trader as hired for that job.

After a customer accepts a trader's structured quote, contact details are shared automatically and mutually between that customer and that hired trader so they can coordinate the work: the customer sees the trader's name, business name, phone number and email address, and the trader sees the customer's name, phone number and email address. The trader's website is not automatically included in the post-hire contact details. The chat contact-information filter between the two parties is also relaxed after hire, so they may share further details themselves. Contact details are not released to unrelated traders or to traders whose quotes were not accepted.

MyLocalTrade does not process, collect or guarantee payment for the actual work carried out. Customers and traders arrange payment for the job separately between themselves.

7. Plans and Payments

  • Traders can join on a free Basic plan with limited features
  • Premium plans offer additional features and visibility, available on a monthly or yearly basis
  • Where a Team plan is available in the relevant store offering, it is a single business subscription purchased by the business owner and may include a store-authorised number of employee seats; it is not billed per employee. If a Team plan ends or changes to fewer seats, team member seats above the new allowance may be suspended rather than deleted — team members keep their login and can still view their past activity
  • Premium plans are purchased and managed through the app-store platform where they are offered, with subscriptions supported via RevenueCat
  • Prices are in GBP
  • MyLocalTrade is not VAT registered; no VAT is charged
  • Premium plans may renew automatically until cancelled; you can manage or cancel your plan through the store platform where you purchased it
  • MyLocalTrade does not process payment for work carried out between customers and traders — job payments are arranged separately between the customer and the trader

8. Customer Responsibilities

  • Customers are responsible for making their own checks before hiring any tradesperson
  • This includes checking qualifications, insurance and obtaining written quotes
  • MyLocalTrade does not act as a contractor and is not responsible for the quality, safety or legality of any work carried out

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to post false or misleading information, use the platform fraudulently, harass other users, or use automated tools to scrape content.

10. Intellectual Property

All content, branding and technology within MyLocalTrade is the property of Service Provider LTD or its licensors. You may not copy or reproduce any part without written permission.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Service Provider LTD shall not be liable for disputes between customers and traders, the quality or safety of any trade work, or indirect losses arising from use of the platform. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding any claim.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
